Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder Method)

Our lymphatic system is composed of: vessels (present in greater numbers than blood vessels), lymph nodes and a few organs (amygdala, thymus...)

Its roles:

  • The body's water pump (interstitial fluid)
  • Main immune response
  • Transport of dietary lipids
  • Purification system by draining metabolic waste

The therapist perfoms pumping motions, mobilizing the skin, the lymphatic nodes and vessels to accelerate the evacuation of lymph (water). This technique is used to reduce congestion and is an excellent tool for reducing water retention, controlling inflammation and maximizing recovery. This method is also used in hospital settings for the treatment of lymphedema, particularly following surgery of the breasts or lymph nodes.
